Celtic players have been linked with moves away from Parkhead for weeks, but nothing major has transpired till now. That could be about to change soon though, as it looks like the Hoops have accepted a £10 million transfer package from a Bundesliga team in order to part ways with Josip Juranovic.

Coming into the January transfer window, it had looked almost certain that Juranovic was on his way out. He had impressed as a starter for Celtic for the past season-and-a-half. And then he was arguably the best right-back at the recent World Cup, as Croatia ended up finishing third at the tournament.

That led to links with clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, AS Roma and several others. But it looks like it is not any of them that he will be headed to.

As tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, Union Berlin have agreed a deal with Celtic worth up to £10 million for Juranovic. The initial fee is understood to be £7.5 million, plus add-ons. The Croatian international has been given permission to travel to Germany to speak to the Bundesliga club.

Union Berlin are a decent club for Juranovic to head to. They finished fifth in the Bundesliga last season and are pushing for a Champions League spot once again this time around.

It is hard not to feel a bit disappointed with the transfer package though, considering that Juranovic was starting in a World Cup semi-final for Croatia just a few weeks ago, is extremely versatile and in the middle of his prime.

With the calibre of the clubs that were linked with Juranovic, many Celtic fans had excepted a Scottish record transfer fee or something close to that.

Whatever maybe the case, let’s see how things transpire. A deal is not officially over the line yet and it remains to be seen if Juranovic will end up at Union Berlin.
