The majority of Celtic’s transfer business during the time of Ange Postecoglou as manager has surrounded incomings. At the same time though, there have been some who have gone in the opposite direction. Most of the recent rumours have been about Giorgos Giakoumakis and Josip Juranovic leaving, but a midfielder has completed his Parkhead exit before them.

The competition for places is very high at Celtic right now, especially in the middle of the park. That has made it very difficult for youngsters to break through into the first-team.

Scott Robertson is someone who was very highly-rated while coming through the youth ranks at Celtic, but unfortunately, he has not been able to make his mark at the senior level for the Hoops and has now ended up departing.

As tweeted out by Celtic on their official account, Robertson has joined Fleetwood Town on a permanent transfer.

There were high hopes that Robertson would be able to make it at the senior level for the Hoops and he had a couple of promising loan spells as well. But ultimately, the youngster was unable to become a major part of Postecoglou’s plans.

He only made a single senior appearance for Celtic and it is hard not to feel that he did not get enough opportunities to show what he is truly capable of.

At the same time though, it is hard to see Robertson getting playing time ahead of the likes of Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley, Aaron Mooy, David Turnbull and others in the team currently. As a result, a move away from Parkhead might be best for him at this stage of his career.

He will reunite with a familiar face at Fleetwood Town though, with Scott Brown managing the English League One club.
