Celtic have been linked with several strikers in recent times, as it looks like the club might need to replace Giorgos Giakoumakis this month. Unfortunately, there have been some bumps on the road for the Hoops. Cho Gue-sung looks set to remain at Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors while Casper Tengstedt has already joined Benfica.

With less than two weeks left in the January transfer window, time is quickly running out for Celtic to bring in another striker to the club. And they have been linked with a variety of names in recent times.

One idea that has been floated about by some fans is bringing back Moussa Dembele to the club. That does feel pretty unrealistic though. While the Frenchman is expected to leave Lyon in January, a return to Parkhead seems pretty improbable, when he could easily end up at a Premier League club.

And as tweeted out by Ekrem Konur, both Aston Villa and Everton want to sign Dembele from Lyon.

Dembele played a big part in two of Celtic’s Quadruple Trebles, and was the main striker for the club for a couple of seasons before moving to Lyon. There he has found quite a bit of success as well.

With Celtic believed to have a sell-on clause in his contract, there were hopes that he would get a big money move away from the French club that would land the Hoops a nice boost.

But unfortunately, it does not look like the clause will come into play at all. Dembele’s current deal with Lyon is set to run out at the end of the season.

Thus, the Frenchman is expected to depart the club this January for a token transfer fee or next summer on a free transfer.
