As the winter transfer window starts to heat up, there’s more news emerging about potential ins and outs for the Celtic forward line. On one hand, it looks like Giorgos Giakoumakis could be edging towards an exit. On the other hand, there have been suggestions that the Hoops have made an improved offer for a striker after failing at the first attempt and also with their Cho Gue-sung chase having led nowhere.

Rumours have broken out that Celtic have already agreed a transfer bid for Giakoumakis from J League side, Urawa Red Diamonds.

The need for Ange Postecoglou to strengthen the forward line is therefore becoming more important with every passing day. And it looks like the club may have turned their interest back towards the South Korean league again.

Oh Hyeon-gyu is a 21-year-old centre-forward currently signed to Suwon Samsung Bluewings. He has been very impressive in recent times and appears to have a ton of potential to develop into a top striker. And it appears that Celtic are serious in their attempts to bring him to Parkhead this month.

Celtic make improved offer for South Korean striker after failed attempt

As reported by XSport News (via Daily Record), an “improved” bid has been submitted by Celtic to Suwon Samsung Bluewings for Oh after initial talks.

Oh made his full South Korean international debut back in November after coming on as a substitute late in a pre-World Cup friendly against Iceland. He didn’t make the final squad for the tournament but with Cho and Son Heung-min ahead of him, it would have been tough to break through so late.

Suwon Samsung Bluewings are believed to be reluctant to let Oh leave the club, as he is one of their key players. Let’s see if an improved offer from Celtic can change their minds. They failed in their initial attempt to sign the South Korean striker.
