It appears that the Scottish League Cup semi-final goal vs Kilmarnock could very well be Giorgos Giakoumakis’ last hurrah in a Celtic shirt. The Greek international has been linked with an exit for a while and recent rumours suggest that the Hoops have agreed an offer from J League side, Urawa Red Diamonds.

Celtic will need to bring in a replacement though, if or when Giakoumakis leaves, as he is a key part of this team. Kyogo Furuhashi is the only other recognised striker in the squad, while Daizen Maeda is capable of leading the line but has never looked at his best in that role.

On the other hand, Celtic’s chase for Cho Gue-sung seems to have led nowhere with the South Korean striker looking set to remain at Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. Could a solution to their Giakoumakis problem lie much closer to home though?

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Kevin Nisbet is back on Celtic’s transfer radar. The Hibernian striker has impressed Hoops chiefs.

Premiership striker eyed by Celtic as potential Giakoumakis replacement

It will be very interesting to see if Celtic do end up making a move for Nisbet or not but there is no denying that the Scottish striker is in sensational form right now.

He spent 10 months out injured, but has looked better than ever since making his return. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 7 goals and provided 1 assist in 6 appearances this season.

It is also worth remembering that Hibernian are not exactly a team in form, creating loads of chances, as well as the fact that Nisbet has had a great scoring record at other clubs in the past as well.

Thus, Celtic making a move for Nisbet might not be the worst idea in the world at all. The club have been linked with other strikers as well though.
