It is safe to say that the J League has been Celtic’s favourite destination of choice, when it comes to making signings, since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager. Before moving to Glasgow, the Australian was managing Yokohama F. Marinos and he has used his knowledge of the Japanese game perfectly in order to make some excellent additions to the Hoops.

Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda have established themselves as first-team regulars. On the other hand, Celtic have signed Yuki Kobayashi and Tomoki Iwata in the ongoing transfer window and it remains to be seen how things work out for them at Parkhead. The only move that has not worked out is the one for Yosuke Ideguchi, who has struggled for playing time.

It looks like Celtic still have their eyes set on the J League and are being linked with a move for another highly-rated Japanese star.

As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, reports online say Postecoglou is also interested in Shimizu S-Pulse’s Yuito Suzuki. He is viewed as one of the hottest talents in the J-League and has also been linked with clubs in Belgium.

Celtic interested in another Japanese star

It must be pointed out that this is not the first time that Celtic are being linked with a move for Suzuki. The club were rumoured to have had an interest in him last January as well, although nothing materialised.

It is not hard to see why they might still be after the Japanese youngster though. And it remains to be seen if they end up making a move for him this time around.

Celtic’s biggest need at this point of time is bringing in a striker though, especially if Giorgos Giakoumakis ends up leaving this month. They were heavily linked with Cho Gue-sung but now, it looks like he will stay at Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors for now.
