It is quite clear that Celtic have a stacked squad at this point of time and do not need to strengthen considerably in January, having already made three additions in this window. But at the same time, there is one area where they might need to make a signing in immediately and that is striker. Now, let’s see if it happens or not.
Giorgos Giakoumakis appears to be on his way out of Parkhead in the very near future, and has been linked with a long list of clubs in recent times.
On the other hand, Celtic appear to be chasing the signature of South Korean striker, Cho Gue-sung, who was immense at the World Cup and has been scoring consistently at the club level as well. But there is a lot of competition for his signature. And another player that the Hoops have been linked with in recent times is 20-year-old Polish centre-forward, Szymon Wlodarczyk.
As tweeted out by Mark Hendry, Celtic made an approach for the Polish striker but there has not been any movement since then as Cho is now the priority for the Hoops:
Celtic did make an approach for the highly-rated Polish striker
Wlodarczyk is very highly rated and has even earned comparisons to a young Lewandowski for his performances.
It is only recently that he turned 20 years of age but he has already been scoring goals in the Polish top flight. Thus, it is not hard to see why he is so highly rated and why it could take a transfer fee around £3.5 million in order to sign him.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 7 goals in 15 Polish league appearances for Gornik Zabrze this season.
The Polish striker also has all the physical attributes to replace someone like Giakoumakis. And if a move for Cho does not work out, do not be surprised to see Celtic make another approach.
