Celtic are believed to be in search of a striker in the ongoing January transfer window. There are a couple of clear reasons behind that. On one hand, the club have not been clinical enough with their chances in front of goal this season even though they are leading the Premiership title race by nine points. On the other hand, Giorgos Giakoumakis is expected to leave this month and is being linked with a number of clubs.

Thus, Celtic might need to bring in a striker in January and one player that they have been linked with in recent times is Cho Gue-sung. But the race for the South Korean World Cup star is tough and thus, the Hoops need to have alternative targets.

Szymon Wlodarczyk of Gornik Zabrze seems to be one player who has caught the attention of Celtic, amidst his impressive performances in Poland.

As reported by the Daily Record, according to reports in Poland, Wlodarczyk is a striker on the radar of Celtic, Freiburg and Anderlecht. According to Fabrizio Romano, who spoke to the Polish language Transfer Window, the player has blown away scouts and been labelled the “young Lewandowski” in the Polish media.

Celtic are being linked with the ‘young Lewandowski’

Lewandowski is one of the best players of his generation and it is natural that most rising strikers in Poland will be compared with him in the years moving forward.

There does seem to be a lot of genuine quality to Wlodarczyk though. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 7 goals in 15 appearances in the Polish league this season while playing just 763 minutes of football in total.

That is very impressive considering that he is just 20 years of age and the sky seems the limit for him. It is believed that it will take a transfer fee around €5 million to sign him.
