There has been plenty of activity by Celtic in the ongoing transfer window as the search for a new striker continues. There is though news of a proposal that has failed, with the highly-rated target deciding not to move to Glasgow and head for French Ligue 1 side, Toulouse, instead.
It is well known that Ange Postecoglou has been looking to boost his forward line this January. Becoming more clinical in front of goal and scoring more from the many great chances his team creates will be critical for the club to make progress in Europe next season and bring home silverware this time around.
And with Giorgos Giakoumakis seemingly on his way out of the club, perhaps in this current transfer window, the search for another forward becomes even more urgent.
Again it’s no secret that the club are interested in South Korean World Cup star, Cho Gue-Sung, currently playing for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and are hoping to make progress with a deal sooner rather than later. Rumours suggested that they have submitted a transfer bid for him. But he is not the only striker that the Hoops have been chasing recently.
€2 million striker has turned down chance to join Celtic
Celtic are not a side to put all their eggs in one basket. They have been linked with Said Hamulic, a 22-year-old centre-forward, currently playing for Stal Mielec in the top league in Poland. He is his club’s top scorer and goal contributor this season.
As reported by TUTTOmercatoWEB, Hamulic has decided to accept a move to Toulouse and has also declined the proposals of Twente, Celtic, Charleroi and Real Salt Lake in MLS.
Someone like Hamulic seemed like a good replacement for someone like Giakoumakis, but it seems that he will head to Toulouse instead, while Celtic’s search for a striker continues.
