Celtic might have made three signings quickly but things are not going smoothly for the club when it comes to their search for a striker. The Hoops are expected to bring in another forward, with Giorgos Giakoumakis heading in the opposite direction but until now, that has not transpired and things seem to be dragging on a bit for sure.

Their top target to replace Giakoumakis in the team appears to be South Korean striker, Cho Gue-sung. But there seems to be some bad news in that regard as it is rumoured that they have been outbid by MLS side, Minnesota United, for the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors man.

Another striker that Celtic have been linked with in recent times is Casper Tengstedt, currently playing for Rosenborg BK and in sensational form as well. But he appears to be closing in on a move to Benfica.

As reported by TV2 Sport (via Glasgow Live), and confirming reports in Lisbon, Benfica will shelve out around £8.3 million for the signature of Tengstedt.

It is hard not to see why there might be so much interest in the signature of Tengstedt, who has scored more goals than played games since joining Rosenborg BK in the summer.

As a result, it seems Benfica have decided to shell out for the striker, especially after having seen Darwin Nunez leave for Liverpool in the summer and Goncalo Ramos drawing the interest from clubs around Europe as well.

Now, this is not good news for Celtic and the club were not expected to shell out that kind of a transfer fee to sign a striker in the first place, even though it is believed that they will look for a similar figure in order to part ways with Giakoumakis this month.

Thus, let’s see what the future holds for Celtic in their search of a striker.
