Josip Juranovic is expected to depart Celtic in the January transfer window. There seems to be an inevitability around the move after he enjoyed a standout World Cup campaign. The Croatian international returned to Glasgow with a third place medal and was arguably the best right-back at the tournament.

Of course, those performances have seen his stock rise, and Juranovic has been linked with some of the biggest teams in the world in recent times, like Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and more.

Thus, it is surprising that Monza, currently 15th in the Serie A, have been rumoured as the frontrunners to sign Juranovic recently in an initial loan deal that will become permanent in the summer for a transfer fee around £7 million.

It goes without saying that such a move would make very little sense for both Celtic and Juranovic himself. Now though, there is some positive news surrounding the situation of the Croatian right-back and his future at Parkhead.

It looks like the Hoops will not be rushed though. As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic chiefs are waiting to see if English Premier League interest is firmed up before they make a decision on the future of Juranovic.

That is without doubt the most sensible path to take considering that the details of the rumoured move to Monza does not seem that attractive of an option for the Hoops.

If the need be, Celtic should not hesitate in waiting till the summer, when clubs will be more open to the idea of splashing out on transfers, to part ways with Juranovic.

On the other hand, after helping Croatia to a third place finish at the World Cup, Juranovic should aim at getting a move to the biggest club possible. He is 27 years of age, and this might very well be his last big transfer.
