Celtic have been linked with a long list of names when it comes to strikers in recent times but the one who seems to be the likeliest to make the move to Glasgow this January is Cho Gue-sung of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. He impressed immensely with his performances at the World Cup for South Korea, scoring twice and earning a lot of plaudits for the overall quality of his play as well.

Cho also has all the physical attributes that one could ask for in a potential replacement for Giorgos Giakoumakis, as it looks like the Greek striker is on his way out of Parkhead this month and a move to J League side, Urawa Red Diamonds, is rumoured to be close.

It remains to be seen how things play out but someone like Cho could be a solid addition to this Celtic side.

Son Heung-min is arguably the best player to ever come out of South Korea, and he seemed to have some advice for Cho regarding a move to Europe. As reported by The Argus, the Tottenham Hotspur star said in an interview in his homeland:

"“My advice for him would be to go and don’t be afraid of playing on the European stage.“He gained great experience by playing so well at the World Cup and that’s the standard he would expect in top European competitions.“I believe his experiences in Qatar will definitely help him.“For me, it’s not like I have achieved my dream just by playing in Europe. Every day, I think about how much more I can improve and Cho must do the same.“For him to move to a European club must mean he is the best player in South Korea just now and that is quite an achievement.“Once he adapts, he will enjoy the experience. But he has to keep working hard every day.”"

Son gives advice to Cho as rumours swirl around about a move to Celtic in the near future

It remains to be seen if Celtic are able to agree a deal with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors for the signature of Cho or not. Recent rumours have suggested that the Hoops have outbid Bundesliga’s Mainz for the striker.

That is a very positive update for sure and puts them in a good spot when it comes to any possible move for Cho this month.

Of course, nothing is over the line yet, and it would be a mistake to get excited before we see the South Korean striker holding up a Celtic shirt in front of the fans at Parkhead.
