Michael Beale finds his Rangers side in danger of falling 12 points behind Celtic in the Premiership title race. The Hoops got the job done against Kilmarnock with a 2-0 victory. And now the pressure is on the Ibrox club. Their game in hand is away at Tannadice Park against a Dundee United side that has picked up a bit of form lately but still find themselves 11th on the table.

One has to admit that the Rangers’ results have improved since the arrival of Beale as manager. They won four straight games after the World Cup break before managing a 2-2 draw at Ibrox in the Glasgow Derby against Celtic.

There has been a large element of luck involved in their results as well though, with a number of decisions going their way. And that is especially why some Celtic fans would be amused by Beale’s recent comments.

As reported by the Daily Record, the Rangers manager said:

"“We don’t spend the most money in this country. Celtic have made three signings and people are asking: ‘Are you going to make three’? No, we will do what we think (is best). But also, they spend a lot more money than us. So Ange is a lucky man because he’s spent a lot of money.“He’s a good coach – but he’s spent a lot of money.”"

Beale’s recent comments have left Celtic fans angry

It is understandable why a lot of Celtic fans are not impressed with Beale’s recent comments about the club’s spending on transfers.

When Postecoglou arrived at the club in the summer of 2021, the squad was paper thin. Several players had left at the end of their loan spells, long-time captain Scott Brown had departed at the end of the previous season, and key stars like Odsonne Edouard, Kris Ajer and Ryan Christie were on their way out as well.

Thus, it is safe to say that Postecoglou had found himself with a mountain to climb and even after making several additions that summer, the Hoops struggled with depth issues in the first half of the season and often had to play people out of their natural positions in order to make up the numbers.

Yes, they have continued to add to their squad since and finally can claim to have a roster that is stacked in most positions, except defensive midfield and striker. It has been a journey and not one window of splashing out.
