Celtic continued their march towards a second straight Premiership title by defeating Kilmarnock 2-0 at Parkhead. On another day, the result could have been a lot more one-sided but the Hoops would be happy with the result regardless. Jota got back to scoring ways, for the first time since his free-kick against Real Madrid, and that would be a major boost for the Portuguese ace. The other one was an own goal.
The result means that Celtic have only lost and drawn once each, after their first 21 games in the Premiership this season. A brilliant record to say the very least and it is no surprise that they are sitting top of the table by a margin of nine points over the Rangers.
Derek McInnes has come up against a lot of Celtic sides through the course of his career, but it looks like Ange Postecoglou’s team have impressed him particularly with their quality.
As reported by The Scotsman, McInnes said:
"“I’ve come here to play against various Celtic teams over the years and maybe none as good as this one.”"
McInnes makes remarkable claim about current Celtic team
That is certainly high praise coming from someone like McInnes, especially since not too long ago, a Celtic team went a season Invincible in domestic competitions on their way to a treble.
It is safe to say that this is a top, top Celtic side. And the scary thing is that the feeling is that they are not performing to the best level at this point of time.
Their finishing in front of goal has been criticised throughout the season and we saw them miss their chances against Kilmarnock as well. They have continued to get the results despite that though, which is the most important thing.
Let’s see what the future holds for this team, with a few being linked with moves away, but this is certainly a group that the fans can be proud of.
