Celtic continued their march towards a second successive Premiership title with a win over Kilmarnock, which extended their lead at the top of the table to 12 points, even though the Rangers do have a game in hand. That will come against Dundee United away at Tannadice Park this weekend and let’s see how Michael Beale’s side cope with the pressure of the situation.
For Celtic, one of the biggest needs at the moment is another striker. The club have received quite a bit of criticism this season for their finishing. And on top of that, Giorgos Giakoumakis is expected to leave this month as well.
As a result, do not be surprised to see Celtic add another striker to their ranks in January. They were heavily linked with Cho Gue-sung of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors after the South Korean striker’s impressive performances at the World Cup. But recent suggestions have been that Mainz are in the lead to sign him.
Thus, Celtic might need to move their eyes elsewhere and it looks like Casper Tengstedt of Rosenborg BK is on their radar. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, journalist Dean Jones said:
"“I think he’s one of the names in the frame, but again, he’s someone that’s been talked about in terms of having potential in other countries too with some big clubs.“So, the feeling is here that a lot is going to depend on the type of environment he sees himself fitting into for the next stage of his career. So, that might be key.”"
Celtic have Tengstedt on their radar following the striker’s brilliant form
If Celtic are looking for someone who is in hot form in front of goal, they should look no further then Tengstedt.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 15 goals and provided 9 assists in 14 appearances for Rosenborg BK.
Sensational would be an understatement to describe how good the Danish striker has been in recent times and he has all the physical attributes as well to replace someone like Giakoumakis.
Rumours have suggested that Rosenborg BK would look for a transfer fee in the region of £3.5 million to let Tengstedt go and if he can maintain his form, that would be a bargain and a half for any club.
