Celtic find themselves in need of signing a striker in January, as it looks like Giorgos Giakoumakis could be on his way out this month. Rumours have suggested that the Greek international has failed to agree to terms on a contract extension with the Hoops. And the fact that he has not started any of the games recently has only intensified the noise surrounding a possible Parkhead exit.
Giakoumakis has been a key striker for the club in recent times though and he was vital in their Premiership triumph last season. Thus, not only would Celtic need to replace him, but they would need in bring in a quality option as well in order to make sure that the squad is not weakened.
The club have been linked with several forwards in recent times like Cho Gue-sung, Carl Tengstedt and Oh Hyeon-gyu. But it looks like Celtic are interested in a Bosnian striker as well.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, reports in Poland suggest Celtic are leading the chase to sign Said Hamulic. He currently plays for Stal Mielec and the club want a relatively cut-price fee of £2.2 million to land him.
Celtic are leading race to sign in-form striker
Stal Mielec currently sit at 7th in the Ekstraklasa table, which is a major improvement from last season when they had finished 14th. A lot of that has been down to the form of Hamulic.
Hamulic has been a man in form this season and it is not hard to see why he might have caught the eye of Celtic.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists in 17 Polish league games this season till now.
Also, Hamulic is just 22 years of age and has all the physical attributes to replace someone like Giakoumakis in the Celtic squad.
