Celtic must have been content to come out of Ibrox with a point. It was not just because of the fact that they managed to salvage a 2-2 draw out of the game but also the fact that it denied the Rangers to cut the lead down to six points. Of course, the Hoops could have finished the title race for all intents and purposes on the day itself, but failed to do that.
For a good while, it had looked like that was what they were set to do. Daizen Maeda had given them the lead early with a brilliant goal and Celtic were the much better team in the early goings.
Two moments in the first half ended up swinging the momentum though. One was the injury suffered by Greg Taylor. And the second was a moment of slackness from Joe Hart. While nothing came out of that, it did give the Rangers hope and woke the crowd up once again, just when it had looked like Celtic were completely dominating things and proving that they were the much better team.
Chris Sutton wrote in his column in the Daily Record:
"They were cruising after 25 minutes at Ibrox. You could hear the home crowd were starting to turn on their team and it was almost too easy. Celtic were dominating the game but the moment of slackness from Joe Hart completely changed the feel of it. The keeper made a magnificent save to redeem himself but it gave Rangers some hope and it got the fans back onside."
Sutton slams Celtic star for his mistake against Rangers
Often, it is moments like those which can completely turn a football match around. A goal might not have come out that immediately, but it change the momentum and gave the Rangers some renewed energy and purpose.
They would go on to score two goals early in the second half and seemed to be on their way to victory, only for Kyogo to come up with a late equaliser and spoil their plans.
At the end of the day, the draw suits Celtic much better than it does the Rangers. And on another day, they could have easily won at Ibrox.
