Clearly there are gaps between Celtic and the Rangers at this point of time, both on and off the pitch. That includes the nine points by which the Hoops are leading in the Scottish Premiership table. Or the number of fans who are present every time they take to the pitch at their home ground.
Celtic are one of the biggest clubs on the planet, and that is proven year after year by their average attendance.
As reported by The Sun, Celtic rank eighth on the list of the top ten clubs with the highest average attendance in the calendar year 2022. 58,480 fans attend games at Parkhead on average, as they cheer on the Bhoys. They are ahead of Italian giants Inter Milan (9th) and AC Milan (10th). Manchester United top with an average attendance of 73,690.
The ten clubs who have made the list are Manchester United, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, West Ham United, Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Celtic, Inter Milan and AC Milan. Rangers do not make the cut with their stadium not being big enough.
Celtic have one more advantage over Rangers and it is the fans
That’s quite an achievement for Celtic, competing with the financial might of clubs in the Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga and Ligue 1. Notably, several of those listed have moved to new stadiums in recent years.
The figures show the great wisdom of Fergus McCann investing heavily in the Parkhead stadium all those years ago. It supports another important gap between the two Glasgow clubs.
And of course, the great football being played by Ange Postecoglou’s side on the pitch helps fill that stadium and maintain those attendance averages with avid fans keen to see their heroes week in week out.
Thus, do not expect to see those numbers drop anytime soon, as Postecoglou’s Bhoys go in search of their second straight league title and perhaps more.
