Josip Juranovic’s performance against the Rangers might have disappointed a lot of Celtic fans but there is no doubt that his transfer value is at its peak right now, and that won’t change based on one game. The Croatian enjoyed a superb World Cup campaign, with a particular highlight being his display against Brazil, as he was successful in keeping Vinicius Jr quiet down the left flank.

Unsurprisingly, Juranovic is believed to have caught the eye of several clubs across Europe, with one of the most interested believed to be Chelsea.

The Blues are badly in need of a right-back at the moment. Reece James is spectacular when on full song but he has been dealing with one injury after another over the past couple of seasons. On the other hand, Cesar Azpilicueta looks well past his prime at the moment. Thus, it is not hard to see why they might be interested in Juranovic.

As tweeted out by journalist John Birky, Chelsea are in advanced talks with Juranovic and a proposal worth £13 million was rejected.

Celtic have rejected Chelsea’s bid for Juranovic

Recent rumours have suggested that Celtic are looking for a transfer fee of at least £17 million in order to part ways with Juranovic.

At the same time, considering how Chelsea have been splashing out following the change in ownership, they should have no major issues coming back with an offer in that range if the club are indeed serious about signing Juranovic.

Let’s see how things play out. There does seem to be a sense of inevitability when it comes to Juranovic’s Parkhead exit. But with the Croatian still having years left on his contract, it is Celtic who hold all the cards at this point of time.

Of course, Chelsea are not the only club being linked with Juranovic and the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and several others are rumoured to be keeping an eye out as well.
