Celtic deserve a lot of credit for their incredible recruitment since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as the club’s manager in the summer of 2021. Expectations were very low at that point of time after the Hoops were coming off of a disaster of a 2020/21 campaign. But it has not taken long for things to turn completely on their heads.
One of the players who set the tone for Postecoglou’s reign at Parkhead is Liel Abada. The Israeli youngster arrived at the club in the same summer and was Celtic’s best player during the first few months, when they were struggling to find their form.
Eventually they would and Abada’s role in the team is not that of a nailed on starter, but he has remained vital to Postecoglou’s plans throughout the past 18 months and sooner or later, one would expect him to make the jump and become a regular in the starting XI. It is worth remembering that he is still just 21 years of age and has plenty of time to develop further. In fact, he has already been linked with a move to the Premier League on several occasions.
As reported by Football Insider, Tam McManus said about Abada:
"“He burst onto the scene last season and scored a lot of goals and got a lot of assists. This season he is still scoring but the assists have dried up a little bit.“He doesn’t really play every week, Celtic rotate their wingers quite regularly. But at 21, and I have spoken about this before, he can move to a big club down in England.“If he keeps his numbers up, keeps banging goals in. If you look across the city, Ryan Kent has nowhere near the same number of goals and assists and he is always linked with a move to the Premier League.“You look at how Abada is performing and it only makes sense to say the same thing, Celtic will be hoping a bigger deal means a bigger fee when Abada does eventually leave.”"
Celtic youngster tipped to make Premier League move
Abada moving to the Premier League one day would not come as a surprise to anyone. He has all the tools required to be a major success down south.
Of course, there are quite a few areas of his game which could do with a bit more polish as well but all in all, he is a massive talent. And his biggest strength is perhaps his effectiveness in front of goal, with his numbers for Celtic staggering and as good as most forwards.
Premier League clubs would have certainly taken notice of Abada by now but for the time being, Parkhead might be the best place for him to develop.
