Celtic will know the importance of the upcoming Glasgow Derby. A win will send them twelve points clear at the top of the table and could virtually end the title race. On the other hand, a draw would be a positive result as well, maintain the nine point gap and taking away one of the Rangers’ chances at Ibrox to reduce the difference. But a loss will open up the title race once again.
Celtic have a great record in recent Glasgow Derbies, having lost only one of the previous five while winning three. They have also had memorable 3-0 and 4-0 wins over the Rangers under the management of Ange Postecoglou.
Things are expected to be much tighter at Ibrox, with the Rangers looking like a reenergised side following the appointment of Michael Beale.
There is some great news for Celtic heading into the Glasgow Derby though, as it looks like Greg Taylor is fit to feature. There had been fears that the in-form left-back could miss out after being forced off the pitch against Hibernian in midweek. Thankfully, it was precautionary.
Celtic handed massive injury boost for Glasgow Derby against Rangers
As reported by Football Scotland, Taylor said about his current situation:
"“I’m fit and feel good, it was just more precaution than anything.”"
Taylor being fit is spectacular news for Celtic, heading into one of the most important games of the season.
Not too long ago, many people viewed Taylor as the ‘weak link’ of this team. But the Scottish left-back has made incredible improvements under the management of Postecoglou to the point where he is now considered as one of the Hoops’ most consistent performers.
Alexandro Bernabei is his cover option but the Argentine has not played much since his arrival in the summer, and as a result, Celtic will feel a lot safer with Taylor at the back in the Glasgow Derby.
