Celtic have had a good time in the transfer market since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou. Even recently, they have signed Alistair Johnston and Yuki Kobayashi, and a move to bring in J1 League MVP, Tomoki Iwata, is believed to be on the verge of happening as well. Thus, the Hoops have strengthened their squad before the January window has even opened.

At the same time though, there are a few worrying signs hovering over Parkhead as well. And it is starting to look like Giorgos Giakoumakis could indeed be on his way out in January.

There was some confusion surrounding the situation of Giakoumakis, as the exit rumours surrounding him came almost out of the blue.

But as reported by Mark Hendry in Football Scotland, Giakoumakis is expected to leave Glasgow when the January window opens. The Greek striker was offered new terms but is understood to be unhappy with the number on the table.

Celtic star could be on his way out of Parkhead in January

It is safe to say that Giakoumakis leaving in the middle of the season, with three trophies still left to play for, would be a major blow to Celtic.

Giakoumakis has been one of the most important players in Ange Postecoglou’s side and was arguably the most vital part in them making a title charge and winning the Premiership in the second half of last season, with his incredible form in front of goal following the turn of the year.

Recently, Giakoumakis has struggled for starts though, which have only added to the rumours that he is on his way out.

The good news is that Celtic could use the transfer fee that they receive from Giakoumakis’ potential exit in order to sign Casper Tengstedt. The club have also been linked with Cho Gue-sung as well. Thus, could they end up bringing in two new strikers in January?
