Celtic could be in need of signing a striker in the January transfer window. On one hand, they have only two recognised forwards in their squad in the form of Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis. And while the Japanese star seems to have rediscovered his goalscoring form after the World Cup break, the same cannot be said about his Greek partner up front.
In fact, there are big question marks over the long-term future of Giakoumakis in this Celtic team, with him believed to be looking for an exit after failing to agree to terms over an contract extension with the club. The fact that he has not started a single game in recent times has only added to those rumours.
If Giakoumakis was to leave, or even if he ended up staying, Celtic need to add to their ranks up top. And one player that they seem to be interested in at the moment has been in incredible form lately.
As reported by Football Scotland, Celtic have scheduled initial conversations with the representatives of Casper Tengstedt. It could take a transfer fee higher than £3.5 million in order to sign the striker though.
Celtic have talks scheduled for striker who has scored 15 goals in 14 games
It would be an understatement to say that Tengstedt has been on top form for Rosenborg BK in recent times. In fact, he has been scoring more goals than games he has played in.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Tengstedt has scored 15 goals and provided 9 assists in 14 appearances for the club. It is safe to say that that is incredible.
It will not be an easy task to bring Tengstedt to Parkhead though. On top of his high transfer value, other clubs are believed to be interested as well, which is understandable considering the numbers that the 22-year-old has put up.
