Celtic are believed to be in search of a new striker at the moment. The club do have two pretty good options in Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis. And the Japanese star seems to have returned from the World Cup break in goalscoring form. The same cannot be said about the Greek international though, whose future at Parkhead is pretty much up in the air right now.

Giakoumakis has not started in recent games amid rumours that he could be looking for a way out of Parkhead, after failing to agree a contract extension with the Hoops.

If that was to happen then the club would need to sign another striker, because their options in that area are pretty limited at the moment. Other than Kyogo and Giakoumakis, they do not have another recognised forward, although Daizen Maeda can play there if the situation calls for it.

But as reported by the Daily Record, fresh reports in the Czech Republic claim that Ladislav Almasi is the plan B for Celtic if their pursuit of Cho Gue-sung doesn’t work out. It comes from Rudolf Ludvik, who has a following on social media for covering Banik Ostrava stories.

Celtic linked with Slovakian striker amid Cho interest

Cho has been linked with Celtic for some time now, following an impressive World Cup while his numbers at club level for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors are great as well.

But the rumours linking Celtic with Almasi are not exactly new either, and the club are believed to have had interest in the towering Slovakian striker since the summer.

Almasi currently plays for Czech club, Banik Ostrava. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 21 goals and provided 3 assists in 43 appearances for them till now.

That is a good return for the striker, especially considering the fact that Banik Ostrava are not a dominant club. He has represented the Slovakian national team too.
