There are a number of Celtic players out on loan at this point of time, as they were not expected to get enough playing time in Ange Postecoglou’s side. As a result, going out to a club where they are expected to get regular minutes is best for all parties involved. And one such player out on loan at the moment is Johnny Kenny.
Kenny was signed from Sligo Rovers in January of this year, after his impressive breakthrough into the senior game there. He impressed at the Celtic B level as well, and was sent out on loan to Queen’s Park in the summer.
Things have not gone there as expected though. Queen’s Park are making a push to get promoted to the Scottish Premiership and currently sit at second in the Championship table. In the middle of all this, Kenny has not gotten a lot of chances to develop his game though.
Kenny is yet score or assist for Queen’s Park, as he has rarely started for the Championship club and mostly had to do with substitute appearances off the bench.
Celtic ready to bring back striker after struggling out on loan
As reported by Alan Nixon (via 67 Hail Hail), Kenny will be heading to Ireland in January. The youngster will be recalled to Celtic in January before being sent on loan to Shamrock Rovers.
Shamrock Rovers might be a great club for Kenny to continue his development, if he gets enough opportunities to shine there.
Kenny remains very highly rated and is still just 19 years of age. Thus, there is nothing to be concerned about when it comes to his struggles out on loan at Queen’s Park, especially when he did not receive enough chances to show what he is capable of. One can only hope that his next one is much better.
