Southampton are no strangers to signing players from Celtic. Over the years, they have signed players like Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama, Fraser Forster and Stuart Armstrong, and it is safe to say that those moves have paid off spectacularly for the Saints. As a result, it should come as no surprise that they continue to keep a close eye on Parkhead.

One of Celtic’s most valuable players at this point of time is Liel Abada. The Israeli international might have turned 21 years of age just a couple of months back, but he has already contributed a lot in the Hoops.

In fact, it feels like Abada’s form for Celtic often flies under the radar as the likes of Kyogo, Jota, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Matt O’Riley and more recently, Josip Juranovic, grab the headlines. But it is safe to say that the 21-year-old’s numbers in the Scottish game are staggering.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 24 goals and provided 15 assists in 78 appearances and 4401 minutes of football for Celtic. He is still just 21 years of age. Thus, it is no surprise that it has caught the eye of clubs down south.

Celtic youngster has caught the eye of Southampton even though his form has flown under the radar at times

As reported by the Daily Record, Southampton have made changes to their scouting department recently but Abada remains on their radar.

Right now, it might be a bit too early for Abada to make the move down south, as there are clearly several areas of his game, which he needs to improve upon and Celtic might be the best place for him to develop further.

But a few years down the line, the Israeli international has to be one of the prime candidates to get a big move to the Premier League.
