Celtic have already made a couple of additions to their already strong squad in the form of Yuki Kobayashi and Alistair Johnston. But on the other hand, it looks like the club are still looking to bring in more players in order to make sure that they do not slip in the second half of the season. And while permanent signings are always better to pull off, the Hoops should keep their eyes open for potential loan opportunities as well.
The club enjoyed great success using the method in the summer of 2021 with Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Daizen Maeda in January of this year. So much so that they signed all three permanently. This summer they brought in Moritz Jenz and Oliver Abildgaard on temporary basis. While the defender has been decent, the same cannot be said about the Rubin Kazan midfielder.
Celtic continue to be linked with midfielders, and they could have an interesting opportunity to bring in a Chelsea wonderkid on loan in January.
Carney Chukwuemeka was signed by Chelsea in the summer from Aston Villa, where he was already making Premier League appearances. Chances have been harder to come by at Stamford Bridge though. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the youngster has made 3 appearances and played 43 minutes of football till now.
Celtic should sign Chelsea wonderkid on loan in January
It is safe to say that the Chelsea wonderkid could be a terrific loan signing for a club like Celtic and it would make sense for all parties involved.
Chukwuemeka could expect some solid game time at a good level in order to continue his development while Celtic will strengthen their midfield.
Of course, Celtic signed Charly Musonda from Chelsea on loan in the past and that did not work out, but Chukwuemeka is a completely different type of player. In fact, he has looked very lively for the Blues whenever he has come on and it is confusing why he has gotten more game time in Graham Potter’s side, who have struggled and completely looked devoid of any inspiration in recent times.
