Celtic have a number of players on their current squad, who are being linked with moves away from the club. As a result, it is important to hand them improved deals in order to keep them happy and make sure that they stay put at Parkhead for the time being. Of course, we are all aware of the rumours surrounding Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis, while Matt O’Riley’s name does the rounds of the rumour mill constantly as well.

Over the last few days, another Celtic star is being linked with a move away from Parkhead, with Premier League clubs believed to be interested.

It is none other than Liel Abada. The Israeli international might not still be a nailed on starter for Celtic, but he is a heavy part of Ange Postecoglou’s rotation and has without doubt been one of the most effective players that the club have at this point of time. Thus, it is not hard to understand why there might be interest in signing him.

But as reported by the Daily Record, Celtic are keen to hold on to Abada and talks over improved terms are expected to take place in the coming weeks – despite recent reports claiming discussions were already under way.

Celtic are planning to start contract talks with the in-form star in the very near future

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Abada has scored 24 goals and provided 15 assists for Celtic till now. One also has to remember that he arrived in the summer of 2021, is a winger, turned 21 years of age just a couple of months back and has not really been an undisputed starter.

Taking all of that into account, 39 goal contributions is extraordinary for Abada and there is no question that he has a natural instinct in the final third of the pitch.

Of course, there are areas of his game where he could improve but that is the case with almost every 21-year-old player. Overall, Abada is a magnificent talent and Celtic should do their best to make sure that he remains at the club for the foreseeable future.
