Celtic have a stacked squad at this point of time and multiple players competing for every single position. And the Hoops have showed no signs of stopping either, as they continue to add to their ranks. They have already brought in Yuki Kobayashi and Alistair Johnston for the January transfer window, and more signings are expected. That strategy has some negative impacts as well though.
One of them is the fact that the club have struggled to bring through any of their youth standouts into the first-team for some years now. The one player to come through the developmental ranks at the club, who is a starter right now, is Callum McGregor. Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh have roles in the team but they are not starters.
One youngster who has impressed for the Celtic B team in the Lowland League is Ewan Otoo. But he is yet to even make an appearance for the senior side. There does seem to be interest from down south in his signature despite that though.
As reported by the Daily Mail (via Football Scotland), Aston Villa, Fulham and Burnley are all tracking Otoo’s progress ahead of the January transfer window.
Celtic centre-back has caught the eye of Aston Villa, Fulham and Burnley
It is safe to say that Etoo is a very highly rated talent but despite that, it is hard to see a path into the senior team for him at this point of time.
The club already have some great options in Cameron Carter-Vickers, Carl Starfelt, Welsh and Moritz Jenz, and they have added Kobayashi to the mix recently as well.
Otoo is very versatile though and can play as a centre-back, left-back and even in midfield. Possibly that could help him in getting to the senior side. He is already 20 years of age though and needs to be playing regular football for his development.
