It is no secret that Celtic could do with another striker. One could argue that it was a major risk to get into the such an important season with just two in the form of Giorgos Giakoumakis and Kyogo Furuhashi. Both of them have done a wonderful job since arriving at Glasgow but at the same time, one has to admit that neither has been at his clinical best this season.
On top of that, rumours have now broken out that Giakoumakis is looking to leave Celtic in the near future after failing to agree a contract extension with the club. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Greek striker.
One thing is clear though, the Hoops need to add to their options up top and encouragingly, they have been linked heavily with standout South Korean striker, Cho Gue-sung, recently. He had a very impressive World Cup campaign and could be on his way to Europe in January.
Journalist Dean Jones had some very positive things to say about the player and the Celtic situation. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, he said:
"“Fans will be happy, I think in one sense, to see the club already working and making headway on a new signing.“He’s really good and I think anyone who has even just watched a highlight reel will be excited about getting him in.”"
Journalist makes Cho to Celtic claim
Signing someone like Cho would have to be considered as a major coup for Celtic and he could prove to be an incredible addition to Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
Cho was a standout performer at the World Cup for the South Korean national team. He found the back of the net twice and was excellent with his overall play as well, as they made it to the last 16 of the competition before being knocked out by Brazil.
On the other hand, Cho has been in stunning for at club level back in South Korea as well, and all things considered, looks like a brilliant prospect.
Some rumours have suggested that Cho will end up at either Celtic or Fenerbahce. Let’s see if the Hoops are able to win the race for him or not.
