Chris Sutton makes £25 million Celtic transfer claim
This January transfer window is going to be very interesting and important for Celtic at the same time. The Hoops have done a wonderful job till now and sit nine points clear at the top of the league table. But at the same time, one cannot overlook the fact that key players are being linked with moves away from the club and them leaving in the middle of the campaign would be bad news for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
The most in demand Celtic player right now is without doubt Josip Juranovic. The Croatian has been a starter for the Hoops since he arrived and on top of that, he had a brilliant World Cup campaign with the Croatian national team as they finished third in the competition.
Thus, Juranovic will be returning to Glasgow with a World Cup medal in his suitcase. How long he will stay though is what Celtic fans will be asking themselves.
Juranovic is being linked with some of the biggest clubs on the planet like Chelsea, Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. Chris Sutton expects Celtic to set his asking price high, as he wrote in his column in the Daily Record:
"I’d be starting with an asking figure for £25 million. Given the stupid money being paid out from some leagues and the desperation of January buying, I certainly believe they’d be selling themselves short with anything that dips well below the £20 million mark."
Sutton makes £25 million Celtic transfer claim about Juranovic
Sutton does certainly make a lot of sense when it comes to some of the transfer fees that are shelled out in the current market, especially in the Premier League.
We have seem unproven teenagers change clubs for £50 million. Real Madrid just recently agreed a transfer package worth around €72 million for 16-year-old Brazilian wonderkid, Endrick, who has played only 7 senior games till now.
Thus, it would not be a stretch to ask for a figure around £25 million for someone like Juranovic, who hasp proven himself at the World Cup and is in the middle of his prime.
