What a World Cup final it was! Arguably the best of all-time, as Argentina and France finished 3-3 after extra-time, before the South American giants won on penalties. In many ways, the entire tournament was a celebration of the career of Lionel Messi and the conclusion of his search for the only thing missing in his flawless resume. One former Celtic star took the opportunity to share a throwback with the legend on social media.
Patrick Roberts was on loan at Celtic from Manchester City and was a fan favourite as well. He would not never make a permanent move to Parkhead, despite being linked with a return numerous times over the years and his career has never hit the heights that it was expected to.
Roberts did get to be a part of some big games during his time at Celtic though, and one of them came against a FC Barcelona side that featured Messi.
Roberts shared a throwback picture of the two, accompanied by a ‘goat’ emoji, making no secret of who he feels the greatest player of all-time is:

Former Celtic star shares throwback picture with Messi after World Cup win
Has Messi cemented himself as the GOAT after his World Cup win? That was one thing that his critics always brought up against him, and now he has added the biggest prize in football to his resume as well, and might have secured his 8th Ballon d’Or in the process. There is literally nothing left for him to achieve.
To be honest, the debate over who the greatest footballer of all-time is, will always continue on. Some view Pele as the best ever, other side with Maradona. When it comes to both club and international football, Messi might have a better case than both of them though.
At the end of the day, it is a matter of opinion. It is good to see though that one of the best players of all-time did finally manage to get his hands on the World Cup in what was his last chance.
