Celtic’s squad has undergone a massive overhaul ever since Ange Postecoglou arrived as manager. A number of players have come in while a number of key stars from Neil Lennon’s stint have departed. The Hoops’ ability to identify the right players has been one of the major reasons behind their success in recent times.

Postecoglou deserves a lot of credit for identifying players like Jota, Kyogo, Matt O’Riley, Josip Juranovic, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Liel Abada and several others in the space of just a few transfer windows. Naturally, all of the signings have not worked out though.

One such player is Yosuke Ideguchi, who was brought in from Gamba Osaka and it was a risky move from the very beginning. Unlike Hatate and Daizen Maeda, he was not coming off of an exceptional season in Japan. It looked like a signing that Postecoglou had made based on potential and what he thought he could get out of the midfielder.

The risk has not paid off though as Ideguchi finds himself on the fringes of the squad. And it might be time to part ways.

It is pretty clear that Ideguchi is pretty far down the pecking order right now and his chances of getting regular first-team chances moving forward are close to zero.

Of course, the Japanese midfielder has had a run of bad luck as well, as he has had to deal with injury problems during his time at Parkhead and never really gotten a run in the team to nail down his spot.

It might be best for all parties involved though, if Ideguchi departed Celtic in the near future and joined a club where he will be getting regular football once again. A move back to Japan has been rumoured.
