Celtic could be in for a massive challenge in the winter transfer window, with several of their current players getting linked with moves away from Parkhead next month. The reigning Scottish champions might be in a strong position right now, having amassed 14 victories in 15 matches thus far, but key players leaving in the middle of the campaign is not ideal by any stretch of the imagination.
The World Cup has provided Ange Postecoglou and his team with time to prepare for the second half of the season, as well as getting deals over the line for Yuki Kobayashi and Alistair Johnston. But the club are facing their fair share of problems as well.
When it comes to the rumour mill, doubts over the long-term future of Giorgos Giakoumakis cropped up a while back.
The Greek forward joined the Hoops in the summer of 2021. And since moving to the club, he has racked up the goals at an impressive rate. Yet, it looks like an unexpected might be on the cards as well.
Celtic star linked with unexpected mega money exit
As reported by The Scottish Sun, reports in his homeland claimed that Giakoumakis doesn’t like the Scottish weather. It’s thought that Saudi sides are interested in the Greek striker. Teams from England and Germany are being linked as well.
Giakoumakis has a long-term contract with the Scottish club. But with talks for a potential renewal now believed to have stalled, his future at Parkhead seems to be in doubt. Also, one cannot overlook the chance the player might have to make life-changing money somewhere else. He seems to have changed agents recently as well, which offers another potential hint towards a Parkhead exit.
It goes without saying that Giakoumakis leaving in the middle of the season would be a blow for Celtic. Meanwhile, South Korean forward Cho Gue-sung is considered as a potential target for the club.
