Celtic have had a busy time recently and we are still weeks away from the January transfer window even opening. The club have already gotten deals over the line for Japanese centre-back, Yuki Kobayashi, and versatile Canadian defender, Alistair Johnston. And that might not be the end of the incomings either.

The club must be keen not to let their 9-point lead slip in the second half of the season and appear to be strengthening the squad sufficiently in order to do that. Some more additions might be needed especially because the futures of Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis are up in the air. Them leaving in the middle of the season would not be ideal though and one can only hope that they at least stay on till the summer.

One of the players who has been linked with Celtic going as far back as Neil Lennon’s time as the manager of the club is Egyptian international, Mohamed Magdy, who is more popularly known as Afsha.

As reported by Al-Masry Al-Youm (via 67 Hail Hail), it appears that Afsha has handed in a transfer request at Al-Ahly.

Some very reliable sources have talked about Celtic’s interest in Afsha in recent weeks and that part of the matter seems legitimate. It is unclear though whether the club will end up making a move for him.

There have been suggestions that the Egyptian club will look for a transfer fee in the region of €5 million in order to part ways with their star man, which would be a huge sum of money to shell out for a player who does not play in a position in immediate need of reinforcements.

In fact, Afsha looks like a similar profile of player to Sead Haksabanovic, who himself had just started to settle in before the World Cup break and has so much more to show on the pitch.
