Celtic used loan deals to great effect in the summer of 2021 by bringing in Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota. Both did so well that the club ended up signing them on a permanent basis and they have gone on to become integral parts of Ange Postecoglou’s side. Were the club able to repeat their trick this summer as well though, as they brought in Moritz Jenz and Oliver Abildgaard on temporary basis?

It is safe to say that Abildgaard’s time at Celtic has not gone well till now, as he has barely featured. Thus, it is expected that he will head back to Rubin Kazan at the end of his deal unless he turns it around in the second half of the campaign. The same cannot be said about Jenz though.

Jenz arrived on a season-long loan with an option to buy included in the deal from Ligue 1 side, Lorient, and he has certainly played his part on the pitch till now, taking part in a number of matches.

On the other hand, it looks like he loves playing for the club and its fans as well. As reported by The Herald, he said:

"“It was important to me from the start to establish close contact with the fans because they support this club and make it something special.“When you wear the shirt, you are not playing for yourself, you are playing to be a part of Celtic’s history of success.“Celtic is old school, Celtic is mysterious, Celtic is pure football and above all Celtic is a religion. When you stand at a home game, close your eyes and get goosebumps just from the chants, you know why this club fascinates the world.”"

Jenz sends beautiful message to Celtic fans

It is safe to say that Jenz has a way with his words and Celtic fans will be delighted to hear what he had to say about the club.

At the moment, it is still unclear whether he will stay at Parkhead beyond his loan deal though, with the club signing another centre-back in the form of Yuki Kobayashi. They already have Carter-Vickers, Jenz, Stephen Welsh and Carl Starfelt as well.

Let’s see how things go from here for the German centre-back and whether he continues to get consistent minutes in the second half of the campaign as well or not.
