Hibernian boss makes incredible Celtic vs Rangers claim
The World Cup semi-finals are set and it is not a long time before club football returns as well. Celtic fans will surely be eager to see their side take back to the pitch as they aim to win their second straight league title, along with the League Cup and the Scottish Cup. This team certainly looks strong enough to compete for a treble but you never know in football.
While Celtic have been a picture of calm over the World Cup break, the same cannot be said about the Rangers, who ended up showing Giovanni van Bronckhorst the exit door and replacing him with Michael Beale.
It is a risky appointment to say the least, as Beale only has the experience of managing in 22 games as a manager. Thus, it will be very interesting to see how this experiment goes. Whether the Rangers enjoy a new manager bounce or they continue to slide down the table.
Hibernian manager, Lee Johnson, does not seem to have been a big fan of Van Bronckhorst being shown the exit door. As reported by The Herald, he said about the situation:
"“I think Gio could walk away with his head held high, look himself in the mirror and know he’s done absolutely everything he can. Celtic are a top side and obviously they’re chasing those guys.“From my point of view, you look at it from the outside, they’re just not as good. Simple as that. I’m not there to judge, I don’t watch every game. All I see is a good man who’s worked his socks off and lost his job, and a good coaching staff.”"
Hibernian makes brilliant Celtic vs Rangers comparison
Thus, in the eyes of the Hibernian boss, the Rangers simply are just not as good as Celtic. And the league table would tell the same story as well.
At the moment, the Rangers are closer to third placed Aberdeen than they are to Celtic. And unless Ange Postecoglou’s side end up enduring a collapse in the second half of the season, they should win the league title this season once again.
Time will also tell if the Rangers made the right decision by replacing Beale with Van Bronckhorst. The Dutchman had led them to the Scottish Cup and the Europa League final just last season.
