The future of Giorgos Giakoumakis at Celtic has been thrown into doubt in recent weeks as rumours have emerged that the club failed to agree a contract extension with him and the Greek international could be on his way out of Parkhead soon. On the other hand, the timing of the links involving the Hoops and Cho Gue-sung are interesting as well.
Of course, it would not be ideal for Giakoumakis to leave in the middle of the season. After a rough start at Celtic, the Greek striker has been a key part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans since the turn of the year and arguably been their most consistent goalscorer.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Giakoumakis has scored 8 goals and provided 1 assist in 21 appearances this season while playing just 920 minutes of football.
At 28 years of age, Giakoumakis is also in the middle of his prime and he did top the Eredivisie scoring charts the season before he arrived at Celtic. Yet, it does not look like the club will demand a big transfer fee for his signature.
Celtic could let Giakoumakis leave for surprisingly low transfer fee
As tweeted out by Giannis Chorianopoulos, Celtic will demand a transfer fee around €6-7 million for Giakoumakis.

While that is a decent figure without a shadow of a doubt but then at the end of the day, when you consider how much Giakoumakis has produced over the course of the past year, how important he is to this team and what he brings to the table even without the goals, and that does feel pretty much on the low end.
It is still not certain that Giakoumakis will be leaving Celtic though and there have been some suggestions that there will be further talks between the club and the player over a new deal.
