Celtic’s biggest strength under the management of Ange Postecoglou has been their brilliant recruitment. It has helped the club discover players like Jota, Kyogo, Reo Hatate, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Matt O’Riley and several others in such a short span of time, who have come in and immediately made an impact in the first-team picture.

Of course, not every signing has proven to be a success and you cannot expect it to be either. One such case in point is Yosuke Ideguchi.

The signing of the Japanese midfielder was always believed to be a risky one. Unlike Daizen Maeda and Hatate, he had not had a standout campaign before arriving in Glasgow in January. The decision to bring him in felt more like what Postecoglou could get out of him, as he had been very highly rated during his early career before getting lost in the shuffle after a move to Leeds United that did not work.

But it has not worked out at Parkhead either. And as reported by The Scottish Sun, Ideguchi is set to be offered the option of a January return to Japan. Several J-League clubs are believed to be monitoring his situation, and could make a move next month.

Celtic are ready to let the player go in January after he has failed to make an impact at Parkhead

It is safe to say that Ideguchi does not have much of a role in the team right now and it might be best for all parties involved if he ended up leaving and opening up a spot in the squad.

It remains to be seen if Celtic can find him a permanent exit or a loan. There does appear to be interest in him from Japan though.

Before arriving at Parkhead, he was playing for Gamba Osaka in the J League. Nagoya Grampus are rumoured with a potential interest as well.
