Celtic want to sign Manchester United-linked striker

Celtic have been very active when it comes to making additions to their squad, since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager. The club definitely deserve a lot of credit for backing the Australian and have reaped the benefits of it. But while they have strengthened their first-team, the Hoops cannot afford to forget about their youth ranks either.

The club have not had the greatest record of bringing through youngsters into the first-team in recent years.

The only one to come through the club’s youth ranks, who is a first-team regular at the moment is Callum McGregor. Other than that, Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh have roles in the team but they cannot be described as starters by any stretch of the imagination.

Celtic do have a couple of very promising youngsters in their developmental ranks at the moment in Rocco Vata and Bosun Lawal and hints have been dropped that they can be part of the first-team picture in the not too distant future. And it looks like the Hoops are interested in strengthening their youth sides further.

As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic have joined the Rangers in the race for Hearts’ forward James Wilson. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the teenager.

Wilson is part of Hearts’ developmental ranks. He is just 15 years of age and a striker. And it is safe to say that he is very highly rated considering the stature of the clubs being linked with him.

Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic are able to sign him or not. It is safe to say that his addition could be a major coup for the Hoops. As one would expect, Hearts are believed to be very keen on keeping hold of the youngster.
