Celtic have managed to build up quite an impressive squad during Ange Postecoglou’s reign as manager of the Hoops, which surprisingly began just about 18 months ago. It does feel like a lot longer, considering the impact that he has had on the club. He delivered the Premiership and the League Cup in his first season at Parkhead, and the team is leading the league title race by 9 points at the moment.

The club must be commended for how much they have backed Postecoglou, even back when a lot of the fans were not sure whether he was the right man for the job or not. And they do not seem to have any plans of stopping either.

Celtic have already signed Alistair Johnston and Yuki Kobayashi, and we are still more than three weeks away from the January transfer window opening. There are more players that they are being linked with as well, with one of them being Egyptian international, Mohamed Magdy.

Magdy, more popularly known as Afsha, currently plays for Al Ahly, where he has made quite the name for himself. He has been linked with a transfer to Parkhead several times in the past but this January is not the right time for Celtic to make their move.

Celtic should stay away from €5 million-rated player in January

Afsha does seem like a very good player, has impressed for both club and country, and has a big reputation. He is also versatile, capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, central midfielder and on the wings.

He just is not the profile of player that Celtic need at this point of time though. They have several players to fill in those areas.

Their biggest area of need at the moment is striker, where they have only two options in the form of Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis. On top of that, the Greek international is being linked with a move away in January.

Thus, that is the area which should be the priority for Celtic in January instead of bringing in the €5 million-rated Afsha, unless the club know something that we don’t yet and one of their attacking midfielders or wingers is on their way out.
