Cho Gue-sung makes admission amid Celtic rumours
Like every time, the World Cup has launched new stars and one of the names that has shined the brightest over the past few weeks is Cho Gue-sung. The South Korean striker has caught the eye with his performances in the tournament, as his national team managed to make it to the last 16 before being knocked out by Brazil. Rumours of a move to Europe have followed and one of the clubs being linked with him are none other than Celtic.
Celtic have signed a number of players from Asia following the appointment of Ange Postecoglou. In fact, Yuki Kobayashi is the fifth player that they brought in from the J1 League. And now, it appears that they have their eyes on the South Korean league as well.
Cho currently plays for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and has been on top form for them. On the other hand, Celtic could do with another striker and thus, a move makes sense for the Hoops.
Cho has admitted that there is interest from European clubs in him and that he wants to make a move to the continent. As reported by The Scottish Sun, he said:
"“There is interest from European clubs.“After playing against world-class players at the World Cup, I want to advance to Europe.“I want to go there and grow more because I met players from Europe and South America here.“The desire to meet again in club football has grown stronger.”"
Cho makes admission about move to Europe amid links with Celtic
Someone like Cho could be an excellent signing for Celtic. The club already have two excellent options in the form of Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis but they have not been at the top of their game this season and missed plenty of chances in front of goal.
On top of that, rumours have suggested that Giakoumakis could potentially be on his way out of the club after failing to reach an agreement over a new deal.
Thus, Celtic trying to bring in Cho makes all the sense in the world but at the same time, it is expected that several other clubs across Europe would be interested in the South Korean star as well.
