It is not often that you would expect a player to go straight from Celtic to Manchester United these days. But there could potentially be one such move in the near future. That is the quality of the squad that Ange Postecoglou has assembled at Parkhead, since his arrival as the manager of the club back in the summer of 2021.
Back then, it had seemed like a daunting task. Not only had Celtic finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers in the season before, but on top of that, several of their best players were leaving and a squad needed a complete overhaul.
Postecoglou faced such circumstances and still guided the Hoops to a Premiership and League Cup double last season. Quite an achievement to say the least.
One of the key players in Celtic’s rise back to the top has been Josip Juranovic. Signed from Legia Warsaw in the summer of 2021, he has been a regular starter for the club from the get go. Not only have his performances on the pitch been impressive, but he has established himself as a leader as well. And Manchester United appear to be one of the clubs keeping an eye out for him.
Manchester United have a close eye on Celtic star
As reported by GIVEMESPORT, journalist Dean Jones said:
"“Manchester United have had a close eye on him for sure.“To be honest, his valuation is going to depend on which level of club comes in for him, because if it’s Man United, you hike it up. But if it’s a West Ham, then you’re not going to be getting as much.”"
One would expect that Celtic could try to get a transfer fee well north of £10 million for Juranovic. Not only has he been a starter for the Hoops, but for the Croatia national team as well. And he has been one of their best performers at the World Cup as they have made it to the last 8 of the competition, where they will be taking on Brazil.
Celtic have already signed Alistair Johnston, who seems to be the potential replacement for Juranovic, if the Croatian does end up sealing an exit in January.
