Celtic have made a blistering start to their transfer plans for January by getting two deals over the line, for Yuki Kobayashi and Alistair Johnston, a month before the window has even opened. So if fans thought that they were quick last winter, this is a whole different level and the exciting thing is, they might not stop after making two signings.

Giorgos Giakoumakis has been linked with a Parkhead exit recently. It is not hard to understand why the Greek striker leaving in the middle of the season would be a huge blow for the club. He has been a key part of Postecoglou’s side for a while now and was instrumental in them winning the league title.

On the other hand, one could argue that Celtic already need a striker, whether Giakoumakis stays or not, and having just two options up front is not enough when competing for three titles.

Thus, Celtic fans have been happy to see the club being linked with South Korean striker, Cho Gue-sung. There is expected to be plenty of interest in his signature though.

Celtic tipped to win transfer race for World Cup sensation

As reported by Football Insider, Alan Hutton said:

"“I have watched his games at the World Cup, I think he is a real threat. He is a presence up front. He is kind of like that Giakoumakis style player.“The draw of coming to a league where you are winning trophies, playing European football, I think that is a massive draw in itself.“The crowds that Celtic and Rangers pull in every week are massive, why would you not want to be part of that? At this moment in time Celtic are very strong so they are going in the right direction.“The only way is up for them at this moment in time so that could be a big draw for a player like that.“"

If Celtic are able to win the race to sign Cho, it would be a major boost for them without a shadow of a doubt.

He has looked like a great striker at the World Cup, scoring a brace in the game against Ghana and impressing even in those games in which he did not manage to find the back of the net.

Cho has been linked with several European clubs in recent weeks after his impressive World Cup campaign and a move to the continent is expected to take place in January. Will Glasgow be his destination? Only time shall tell.
