Celtic might be sitting nine points clear at the top of the Premiership table, but the fans must be worried about some of the transfer rumours surrounding the club at the moment. They have been able to bring in Yuki Kobayashi and Alistair Johnston, but it looks like there is a possibility that key first-team players could head in the opposite direction and depart Parkhead.

One of the players whose future at the club has been in doubt is Josip Juranovic, after rumours broke out that talks over a new deal had led nowhere.

Those exit rumours have only been intensified by the fact that Celtic have brought in Johnston so swiftly, and many feel that Juranovic’s departure is almost inevitable.

As tweeted out by Manuel Veth, Johnston has been brought in as a replacement for Juranovic and the “Scottish club is actively shopping the Croatian right-back”.

Celtic are pushing for first-team star’s Parkhead exit

Juranovic has been a big part of Celtic’s success under the management of Postecoglou. He was signed in the summer of 2021 and has been a regular starter for the club since his arrival, despite the good form of Anthony Ralston.

Juranovic has shown his versatility, playing both as a right-back and a left-back, as well as further up the pitch when required last season. But it is not just for his on-field displays that the Croatian has been important. He has established himself as a vocal leader as well.

Thus, Juranovic leaving, especially in the middle of the season, would be a major blow for Celtic. One also has to consider the fact that Johnston would be arriving in Scotland from a completely different continent and must be given time to adjust to his new surroundings as well as the football.

So, if Juranovic is going to leave, one can only hope that it is at the end of the season and not in the middle of it.
