Celtic faced Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League this season, and while they might have lost both games, they were memorable contests and an overall positive experience for the Hoops. Now though, it looks like Carlo Ancelotti’s side could end up handing a cash windfall to the Scottish champions as well, as transfer rumours continue to swirl around.

One area that Real Madrid could potentially be looking to make an addition in soon is right-back, with both Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez having crossed their 30th birthday mark. And one man who seems to have caught their eye is Jeremie Frimpong.

According to a report from Defensa Central (via Caught Offside), Real Madrid are leading the race to sign Frimpong. He has also been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea in recent times.

Frimpong left Celtic last year in order to join Bayer Leverkusen for a transfer fee believed to have been around £11.5 million, while rumours have suggested that the Hoops have a sell on clause as well.

Frimpong has been a revelation since joining Bayer Leverkusen and has established himself as one of the best young players in the entire Bundesliga.

While it is believed that he is rated at around £30 million, it would not come as a major surprise if he goes for a higher figure than that considering his age, his quality and the fact that clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid appear to be interested in his signature.

Thus, Celtic could very well be in line for a hefty cash windfall, if Real Madrid or any other top club end up signing Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen in the near future. Let’s see what the future holds for the Dutchman, but it definitely seems to be bright.
