In recent years, Celtic have been extremely successful, except for the giant blot that was the 2020/21 campaign. Overall though, it has been a trophy-laden time for the Hoops and things only seem to be looking up for them, as Ange Postecoglou seems to have his eyes on not only continuing their domestic dominance but help them move forward in Europe as well.

One area where they have been lacking in though is bringing through youth players into the first-team. Callum McGregor is the only regular starter who falls into that category, while the likes of Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh are role players in the squad.

Of course, a lot of highly-rated young players have left Celtic as well for clubs down south and beyond, with Ben Doak being a recent example in that regard. He had already made a couple of senior appearances for the Hoops at just 16 years of age before switching to Liverpool.

There are some very bright young talents coming through the club’s youth and developmental ranks at the moment though, and fans would surely be hoping that some of them are able to develop into starters for Celtic eventually. There seems to be some very good news in that regard.

Celtic fans delighted as Postecoglou confirms brilliant news

Bosun Lawal and Rocco Vata are widely considered as the two brightest prospects in Celtic’s youth sides right now and it seems like both of them are edging towards first-team status.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Postecoglou said while speaking on a media conference on Celtic’s official YouTube channel:

"“They’ve been in and around the first-team pretty much this year. I think the more exposure we give them, I think every time we see them, they’re edging a little bit closer which is the important thing.“They’re taking the experience they have with us. Stephen McManus and Darren O’Dea are doing a great job for the B team, preparing these guys for the next step.“It’s up to the boys themselves. Every time they get an opportunity they show they continue to develop, we saw that with both of those guys. We’ll take them both to Portugal as well. That’ll give them some more exposure to first-team football.”"

Both Lawal and Vata have been standouts in the Celtic youth setup and if they continue to develop at this rate, they should be able to make the jump to the senior level in the not too distant future. The fact that Postecoglou and company have taken notice of them is great news.
