Celtic have already made their presence felt ahead of the upcoming January transfer window by confirming the signings of Yuki Kobayashi and Alistair Johnston. If people thought the club’s announcement of last season’s triple deal for Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi was swift, the Hoops have taken things to another level this time around.

The early moves will give both Kobayashi and Johnston time to train with their new teammates, and hopefully get accustomed to Angeball, before they hopefully take to the pitch for Celtic in January.

Celtic seem to have their eyes on more signings though, despite already getting deals over the line Kobayashi and Johnston. And the next man on their radar is Mohamed Magdy of Al Ahly, simply known as Afsha to most fans.

Afsha has been linked with Celtic several times in the past, and now, there is finally confirmation of the club’s interest in the player. As reported by Football Scotland, Maher Nawfal, Afsha’s representative, exclusively told them:

"“There has been interest from Celtic but we will take time to consider what is best for Afsha before a decision is made.”"

Celtic’s interest in the player confirmed by his representative

Afsha is a full Egyptian international and is one of Al Ahly’s key stars. So much so that it is believed that the club want a transfer fee in the region of €5 million in order to part ways with him.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Afsha has scored 29 goals and provided 32 assists for Al Ahly, in his 146 appearances for the Egyptian club.

He is also 26 years of age and entering his prime, thus, it is not hard to see why Celtic might be keen to make a move for him at this stage of his career. It remains to be seen if they are willing to shell out a major transfer fee for him though, considering the fact that attacking midfield is a position where they have plenty of options in already, unless there are unexpected exits in January.
