Victor Wanyama is one of the best players that Celtic have had a hand in discovering in the club’s  recent history. The Kenyan midfielder first made a name for himself on the European stage while wearing the Hoops. Since then, he has gone on to have a very good career in the game but it is clear that he holds his memories at Parkhead very dearly to this day.

Wanyama departed Celtic in order to join Southampton. And a great stint there as well was rewarded with a big move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Wanyama did have his highs in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt, even reaching a Champions League final, which they lost to Liverpool. But overall, his career faded away quite a bit, during his time at the club.

He was linked with a return to Celtic at one point of time as well but that did not transpire, and he would end up joining MLS side, CF Montreal, instead. It is there that he would end up meeting Canadian international, Alistair Johnston, and appears to have played a key role in the defender’s recent move to Glasgow.

Wanyama considers Celtic to be the biggest club that he ever played for, despite having stints at Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton as well. As reported by the Daily Record, Johnston told the Daily Mail:

"“Victor is one who has definitely been in my ear about it. He had glowing reviews for the club.“He was one of the ones who said to me ‘Look, if you get an opportunity and something comes up at Celtic, you have to take it.’ Vic says it’s the biggest club he had ever played for and he has played for some pretty big clubs in Spurs and Southampton – so that was a pretty glowing recommendation.“He said that anywhere he went he still got constant shouts of ‘hail hail’ and ‘come on the Bhoys!’ So I got a glowing review from Victor and I have done a lot of my own research.”"

It might have been nearly a decade since Wanyama pulled on a Celtic shirt, but he has always had some very good things to say about the club all this time.

He is someone who clearly loved his time at Parkhead and at 31 years of age, there might still be time for him to make a potential return to the club one day, if the stars end up aligning over a move.
