Celtic have shown no signs of stopping in the transfer market despite their commanding position in the Premiership right now, sitting nine points ahead of the Rangers after just 15 league games played. The Hoops have already announced that Yuki Kobayashi will be joining the club, with the Japanese defender free to train with his new teammates from December itself even though he will have to wait until next year to make his debut on the pitch.

On the other hand, another player whose move to Celtic is believed to be only a matter of time is Alistair Johnston of CF Montreal.

Johnston has been one of the best defenders in the MLS in recent times and was impressive with the Canada national team at the World Cup as well, even though they lost all three games and finished bottom of their group. The right-back started in every match.

And now, Canadian national team manager, John Herdman, has hinted at Johnston being on the move after the World Cup. As reported by the Daily Record, while speaking to TSN Sports after the game, he said:

"“Alistair’s career is going to be on a real positive trajectory. I think Ali is just one of the many who are going to benefit from performances in this World Cup.”"

It is safe to say that Celtic need to bring in a right-back in January with rumours suggesting that contract talks have broken down with Josip Juranovic and he is on his way out of the club next month.

The Croatian is having a great World Cup campaign himself and is a starter for the Croatian national team, who have sealed their place in the last 16.

Juranovic leaving in the middle of the season is far from ideal as he has been a nailed on starter in this team since he joined the club. But with a move for Johnston rumoured to be on the verge of completion, the Croatian’s exit seems inevitable.
